Konavle is located in the southernmost part of the Republic of Croatia. The traditional dances of this region are Potkolo, Namiguša, Čičak and Poskočica. Among them, Potkolo stands out in particular as the oldest dance in Konavle, and certainly in the entire Dubrovnik area.
Musical Accompaniment
Potkolo is performed to the accompaniment of the lijerica, an ancient three-stringed bowed instrument, while in the more distant past, it was danced to the traditional bagpipe (mješnice or mijeh). In contrast, the dances Namiguša and Čičak are performed to the accompaniment of a tamburitza orchestra.
In our repertoire: These dances have been performed in the society since 2012, when they were choreographed by the artistic director of the "Linđo" Folklore Ensemble at the time, Mr. Sulejman Muratović (Sule).
