The dances of Split (Stari Splitski plesovi) are characteristic urban dances closely related to the court dances of the European aristocracy. They are recognizable by their minimalist movements, which are connected in a truly unique way to the famous Split fjaka (the Mediterranean state of mind of sublime laziness).
Elegance and Mediterranean Influence
This dance suite consists of three dances: Monfrina, Četvorka, and Šaltin polka. The main features of these dances are the exceptional elegance of movement, refined posture, and softness of steps, which clearly reflect the influence of the Western Mediterranean.
In our repertoire: These dances have been performed in the society since 2014. We are particularly proud of the fact that they were staged for our society by the famous choreographer from Split, Branko Šegović, at his 92 years.
