The typically Slavonian dances, among which Žita and Todorestand out in particular, reflect all the vitality, pride, and cheerfulness of the people from that region.
Traditional Costume of Bizovac
Among the numerous variants of women's traditional clothing in Slavonia, the attire from the Valpovo area, and especially from Bizovac, stands out for its distinctive appearance. Due to several layers of heavily starched, shorter petticoats over which the topmost skirt (decorated with openwork embroidery) and a linen apron are placed, the entire outfit takes on a specific bell-shaped look.
The blouse with very wide sleeves is complemented by a starched and richly ruffled collar, making the entire visual impression irresistibly reminiscent of the elegant clothing style from the Rococo period.
In our repertoire: These dances have been performed in the society since 2019, when the choreography by Sulejman Muratović was prepared for the stage by our artistic director, Mateo Čanić.
